OUR SERVICES

Fire Extinguishers

Fire Extinguishers are an integral component of fire prevention and the reduction of loss. The Fire Code provides requirements not only for how many fire extinguishers a commercial or industrial space must have but also the acceptable size of fire extinguishers and type of fire extinguishers. Our  technicians are certified to the NFPA Standards. Our team is prepared to meet the needs of our clients with as minimal interruption to business as possible.

  • Currently the NFPA 10 is “the code” on fire extinguishers

Fire Suppression

NC Fire & Safety provides semi-annual inspections to industry (kitchen and marine) for their Fire Suppressions Systems.  Our Flat Rate approach to these inspection and service calls allows owners and managers to better anticipate the cost of service and budget accordingly.

  • The Fire Code as well as most manufacturers require that pre-engineered fire suppression systems in commercial and industrial applications be maintained on a semi-annual basis.

  • Most suppression systems have a mechanical means for activation upon the detection of a fire. Fusible links must be replaced at intervals of no greater than 12 months.

  • Once a year every suppression system must have its functionality tested.

  • Every suppression system must be supplemented with a wet chemical K-Class fire extinguisher to be compliant with the applicable codes.

Inspection & Maintenance

All Fire & Safety equipment is required, under various codes, to have an annual inspection performed by certified technicians.  Some are even more often. This includes Fire Extinguishers,  Suppression Systems, Fire Hoses, and various other types of systems and equipment.  Our shop is outfitted to provide full service to most of these including 6 Year Maintenance and Hydrostatic Pressure Testing. Our fire extinguisher service technician inspects, cleans, and certifies your portable fire extinguishers annually, semiannually, or monthly depending on your needs.

  • The Fire Code requires that all portable fire extinguishers be inspected and certified by a technician at a minimum of every twelve months.

  • The Fire Code requires all suppression sytems to be inspected semi-annually or every 6 months.

  • Depending on the agent used as a fire suppressant, most fire protection systems require an internal maintenance at a 1, 5, or 6 year intervals in order to remain certifiable

Hydrostatic Testing

NC Fire & Safety provides Transport Canada approved hydrostatic testing at our shop location in Prince Rupert. We are the only shop in North Western BC that can offer pressure testing to 5500 PSI. This testing is available for fire extinguishers, SCBA (self contained breathing apparatus), CO2, and dive tanks.  The test involves filling the vessel with water and pressurization of the vessel to the specified test pressure. Using this test helps maintain safety standards and durability of a vessel over time.
